The Barrington Partnership for Animal Welfare (BPAW) is an independent, non-profit 501c3 organization that relies on volunteers and private donations for its successful operations. Barrington PAW works collaboratively and cooperatively with the town of Barrington and its animal control officer, however, we have no direct affiliation with the town and we receive no municipal or other government support.
Barrington PAW was legally incorporated in 2007 in response to the lack of systems and supports available for animals in town. At the time of the organization's founding, more than 90% of lost/stray animals were being euthanized and virtually no lost pets were being reunited with owners. We have worked tirelessly since that time to make changes and improvements within town, building systems of support that have enabled dozens of animals to find their way home and that have allowed hundreds of stray animals to find their way to new, loving homes. We are grateful for all of the cooperation we've received from the Barrington Police Department and Animal Control Officers in the process. Despite the many, many improvements that have been made, there is still much work yet to be done and there is never a shortage of animals in need. Since our beginnings in 2007 our mission and focus has evolved. We now work on a wide array of animal welfare issues.
